Soil disinfection with Herbie
Soil Resetting is a completely biological method to free the soil from diseases, fungi, insects and weeds by introducing Herbie granulates or liquids. Herbie is 100 percent plant-based, protein rich and very easily biodegradable in the soil. In this decomposition process, oxygen is initially consumed. As a result, by covering with plastic foil, the soil becomes oxygen-free within 1 day, then the fermentation process continues under anaerobic conditions. During this process all sorts of substances are released (fatty acids, methane, hydrogen sulphide, etc.), causing pathogens to die off. After the process, the soil is ready for new crops. A favourable side effect compared to, for example steaming, is that the soil life increases so that your crop yields increase. You can continue to use the soil for the same crop without any problems.
INDOOR AND OUTSIDE
Soil Resetting can be applied both in greenhouses and outdoor crops. Specifically, Herbie 82 has been developed for organic production, based on European regulations: Herbie 82 has now received a Fibl registration for use in Europe.
The Soil Resetting system has been developed in collaboration with Wageningen UR. Since its introduction in 2009, it has been used by many growers in 7 different countries, including growers of tomatoes, peppers, seed propagation, lettuce, various types of flowers, strawberries, asparagus, bananas and fruit tree growers.
